U.S. AND CHINA ARE NOT MORAL EQUIVALENTS

 

There is no moral equivalence between the U.S. and China. One is the leader of the free world. The other is a brutal, revisionist dictatorship that doesn’t abide by any rules.

 

On Feb. 13, the same day this article was published, the Chinese coast guard violated Philippine sovereignty by blinding Philippine sailors with military-grade lasers and preventing Philippine vessels from entering Philippine waters in the West Philippine Sea.

 

To be clear: our allies and partners are conscious of the security challenges we face in the Indo-Pacific. Unfortunately, it seems Canadians — the people who benefit most from U.S. power — are always last to get the memo.
