EMERGENCIES ACT NEEDED TO BE INVOKED

The Trudeau government did the right thing by invoking the Emergencies Act. I lived in the heart of the protest. We, the residents of downtown Ottawa, endured a 24-day-long occupation at the hands of the Freedom Convoy’s lawlessness. Our mall, grocery stores, pharmacies and small businesses were shut down. Our family members, friends and neighbours were harassed and assaulted by violent, drunken protesters.

We, the people who were directly affected by the Freedom Convoy’s lawlessness, welcomed the Trudeau government’s decision to invoke the Emergencies Act. In fact, it should have come sooner. Evidently, it’s much easier to empathize with the Freedom Convoy’s lawlessness from the comfort of the suburbs (or Toronto or wherever the author is writing from) than from the heart of the protest.
